FC Copenhagen bounced back from their 2-0 loss to AGF with a thrilling 4-2 win away at Esbjerg in the Danish Cup quarter-final first leg. The Jutland underdogs put up a good fight, but Copenhagen's superior quality ultimately told, making for an entertaining match.
Esbjerg, managed by Sancheev Manoharan, will look to turn things around in the second leg, but Copenhagen's victory has certainly restored some morale after a shaky season.
FC Copenhagen dominated the match at the Blue Water Arena, with 13,205 spectators watching the Esbjerg fbc struggle to cope with the pressure. Copenhagen's strong start saw them score two goals in the first 15 minutes, leaving Esbjerg scorching for opportunities.
Viktor Dadason scored the opener, poking in a Youssoufa Moukoko cross after just six minutes, setting the tone for Copenhagen's commanding performance.

Moukoko turned provider again, laying the ball into the path of Mohamed Elyounoussi, who scored with a flat finish past goalkeeper Robby McCrorie, eight minutes after the previous goal. The visitors made it 3-0 after 35 minutes when McCrorie was caught out, and Dadason sent the ball across goal for Elias Achouri to score.
The home side got a lifeline before the break when Muamer Brajanac reduced the deficit, lobbing the ball over Dominik Kotarski.
Dadason scored his second goal of the night, making it 4-1 with 18 minutes to go. Peter Bjur then curled the ball beyond Kotarski to make it 4-2, setting up a tense finish.
In the other quarter-final, Viborg thromped Vejle 4-1, leaving them with a huge advantage heading into the return leg.
