Enzo Maresca Confirms Delap Out for Weeks with Injury
| Chelsea seek consistency against Everton |
Chelsea aim to shake off poor form against Everton, with consistency key, says Maresca. Cole Palmer and Wesley Fofana available for Chelsea's home game against Everton, says Enzo Maresca.
“It can be two, three or four weeks. We don't know exactly how many days he needs...”
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed Cole Palmer and Wesley Fofana are fit for Saturday's home game against Everton. Palmer was impressive in midweek, while Fofana is back from an eye injury that forced him off in the Champions League loss to Atalanta.
Liam Delap, on the other hand, won't be available for a while, with a shoulder injury that's expected to keep him out for 2-4 weeks. This is a blow for Chelsea, who are struggling for wins in the Premier League.
Chelsea's last win was at Burnley in November, and they're looking to get back to winning ways against Everton. The team is still searching for consistency, and Maresca will be hoping Palmer and Fofana can make a difference.
Cole Palmer, an attacking midfielder, has been sidelined for six weeks due to groin issues and a broken toe. As part of his recovery, he didn't make the trip to Atalanta, giving him more time to get back to full fitness.
“(Palmer) is okay. He's better. He is, at the moment, available... yesterday he finished the session with us with mixed feelings. But overall he's fine,” Maresca said on Friday.

“Wesley is fine. He completed the session yesterday.”
Maresca said Delap, the striker, needs more time to heal from a shoulder injury he picked up during the draw at Bournemouth.

“It can be two, three or four weeks. We don't know exactly how many days he needs” he said.
Chelsea's form has been a concern, with four games without a win. They're struggling to match their earlier season form, when they were flying high, winning 9 of 11 games, including a throttling of Barcelona.
Maresca knows consistency is key, and it's the next step for Chelsea. They're currently fifth in the Premier League, and the Italian boss wants to see his team performing at their best, consistently.
“How do we do that, it's just one week, it's not a long time, but for sure when something happens, the next game you are more prepared and you can avoid that,” he said.
“In terms of human beings, it's impossible to be at the same level for the whole season but we need to learn things for the future.”
An unbeaten November for @ChelseaFC 👊
