Lyon demolished Maccabi Tel Aviv 6-0 in Serbia, with Corentin Tolisso scoring a hat-trick. This win puts Lyon at the top of the Europa League standings, tied with Midtjylland and Aston Villa on 12 points.
The match was a one-sided affair, with Lyon dominating possession and creating numerous scoring chances. Abner Vinicius scored the opener in the 4th minute, and Tolisso followed up with a goal in the 25th minute. Moussa Niakhate converted a penalty in the 35th minute, and Tolisso completed his hat-trick with two goals in quick succession after the break. Adam Karabec wrapped up the win with a goal in the 62nd minute
Tolisso was on fire. He kept making late runs into the box, causing chaos for Maccabi Tel Aviv's defense. His close-range effort was deflected through to Abner, who tapped it in. Tolisso was literally everywhere, and his next shot was just wide of the post - what a performance.
Tolisso kept causing chaos in the box, and this time he capitalized on some sloppy defending to head home Abner's cross. The Lyon midfielder was having a field day, and his side was totally dominating the game. Just after the 30-minute mark, Sulc was fouled in the box, and Niakhate made no mistake, scoring the penalty to make it 3-0.
Any hopes of a second-half comeback were quickly killed off after the restart as Tolisso completed his hat trick.

He took advantage of further defensive lapses to peel off his man at the far post to head Sulc’s cross past Roi Mishpati five minutes after the restart, before tapping home from Sulc’s cutback minutes later to make it five.
Substitutions couldn’t slow Lyon’s attacking momentum, though, as minutes after coming on, Adam Karabec made it six with a precise finish from a narrow angle.
Maccabi Tel Aviv's struggles continued as they failed to land a single shot on target, and things got worse when Sagiv Yehezkel received a second yellow card, leaving his team down to 10 men. Lyon's dominant 6-0 win puts them in a strong position to advance to the knockout rounds, with 12 points from five games.
Maccabi Tel Aviv, on the other hand, is facing an uphill battle, with just one point and the worst goal difference among all 36 teams. They'll need to win all three remaining games to have any hope of progressing, but it looks like a tough task ahead
