Trent Alexander-Arnold opens up on his feelings about returning to Anfield, saying his love for Liverpool won't be affected by fan hostility.
“No matter what, my feelings won't change towards Liverpool...”
Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to face a potentially hostile reception at Anfield on Tuesday when Liverpool host Real Madrid in the Champions League. However, the defender remains unfazed, insisting that no amount of jeering from the fans will diminish his love for his boyhood club.

Alexander-Arnold has a deep connection to Liverpool, having come through the club's youth ranks and won numerous titles, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League. Despite his successful spell, he chose not to sign a new deal, citing a desire for a new challenge. The decision was met with anger from many supporters, who vocalized their discontent during a Premier League game against Arsenal in May.
Ahead of Tuesday's match, Alexander-Arnold acknowledged the potential for a hostile atmosphere but expressed his pride in his Liverpool roots. “You can't dictate how people feel, and I understand why they're upset,” he said. “But nothing will ever change my love for the club.”
“I think whichever way I am received is the decision of the fans,” Alexander-Arnold told Amazon Prime on Sunday. “I will always love the club. I will always be a fan of the club.
“No matter what, my feelings won't change towards Liverpool. I have got memories there that will last me a lifetime and no matter how I am received, that won't change.”
Liverpool's recent form has been shaky, with six losses in their last eight games across all competitions. Despite this, Trent Alexander-Arnold believes Real Madrid shouldn't underestimate the Reds, given their history as Premier League champions.
“It will be a very difficult game, the reception and atmosphere will contribute to that, but more so the football for me,” the 27-year-old added.
“Although they haven't had the results of late, they're still a top footballing team, and nobody here thinks it's going to be an easy game.”
