Morgan Gibbs-White Opens Up About England Omission
Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White reveals Thomas Tuchel called him about England squad omission.
“He (Tuchel) had a conversation with me after the Europa League game...”
Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has opened up about a phone call he received from Thomas Tuchel after being left out of the England squad. Gibbs-White, 25, has struggled with his form this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in 11 games, which likely contributed to his omission.
Tuchel's call was reportedly to explain the reason behind Gibbs-White's exclusion, with the England manager telling him to “never take penalties again!” Gibbs-White appreciated Tuchel's honesty and has since praised his approach, saying he's “a really easy-going sort of guy” who's been in contact with players since taking over.

Morgan Gibbs-White was surprisingly dropped from the England squad despite being part of Thomas Tuchel's camps since he took over earlier this year. The Nottingham Forest midfielder has now revealed that Tuchel personally called him to break the news, having a conversation with him after the Europa League game.
“He (Tuchel) had a conversation with me after the Europa League game,” Gibbs-White shared, highlighting the manager's honesty and approach. This call shows Tuchel's commitment to communicating with his players, even when making tough decisions.
“He told me to never take penalties again! He's a really honest guy and the fact that he called me to tell me I wasn't in the squad, I really appreciated that.
“Like I said, all I've got to do is just focus on myself and focus on my team here and putting the performances right, to put myself in a good position to get called up. That's all I can do.”
