Bayern Munich winger Luis Diaz has received a three-match ban for serious rough play after being sent off in their 2-1 Champions League victory over PSG.

“My information is that he's suspended for one game... I would be disappointed if my information is not correct...”

Bayern Munich's Luis Diaz has been handed a three-game ban by UEFA following his red card in the 2-1 Champions League win over Paris St Germain earlier this month. Diaz scored both goals in Paris but was sent off for a violent tackle on PSG's Achraf Hakimi on the stroke of halftime.

The ban means Diaz will miss Bayern's trip to Arsenal on Wednesday, as well as home games against Sporting CP on December 9 and Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21. Bayern boss Vincent Kompany had expected a one-game suspension, expressing disappointment with the UEFA decision.

Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan full-back, suffered a severe sprain on his left ankle, which has kept him out of action for PSG. Despite the injury, he made a remarkable appearance at the African Footballer of the Year award ceremony, using a scooter to get around and even winning the prestigious award.

Hakimi's injury occurred during a match against Bayern Munich, and he's been working hard to recover. He's been spotted in the gym, pushing for a quick return, but his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations is still uncertain. The Moroccan star is determined to make a comeback, though, and is following a structured rehabilitation program.

The Colombian winger was sent off for a violent tackle on PSG's Achraf Hakimi, who suffered a severe sprain on his left ankle and has been out of action since.

Bayern boss Vincent Kompany had expected Diaz to miss only the trip to Arsenal on Wednesday, but he'll also sit out home games against Sporting on December 9 and Union Saint-Gilloise on January 21. “My information is that he's suspended for one game... I would be disappointed if my information is not correct, “l” Kompany told reporters earlier on Friday.

Bayern currently leads the Champions League standings with 12 points from four games, alongside Arsenal and Inter Milan, who also have perfect records.
