A mural of Trent Alexander-Arnold near Anfield has been vandalized ahead of his return to Liverpool with Real Madrid in the Champions League. The defacement of the mural adds to the tension surrounding Alexander-Arnold's first match against his boyhood club since leaving on a free transfer.

Alexander-Arnold responded to the vandalism, calling the person who defaced the mural a “rat.” The incident highlights the strong emotions surrounding his return to Liverpool, with hostility already simmering among fans.

A mural honoring Loris Karius' role in Liverpool's 2019 Champions League win was vandalized with white paint early Tuesday. The artwork, located near the stadium, was defaced with messages reading “Rat not welcome” and “Adios el rata” (Goodbye, rat).

By midday, workers had begun removing the paint from the mural, restoring the area to its original state. The vandalism has sparked reactions from fans and the community, with many calling for respect for the player's legacy.
