Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann is laser-focused on securing World Cup qualification, and he's not looking to experiment with his squad in the remaining qualifiers. His sights are set on winning the next two matches to guarantee a spot in next year's tournament.

The Germans are currently top of Group A, and a win against Luxembourg on Friday followed by a victory over Slovakia on November 17th would seal their place in the World Cup. Nagelsmann is prioritizing squad balance and immediate success, stating, “We want to have a good balance (in the squad)... The most important thing is... to be successful at these games, get the six points, and qualify for the World Cup.”

“We want to have a good balance (in the squad),” Nagelsmann told a press conference on Monday. “We want to cover every position double. The most important thing is... to be successful at these games, get the six points and qualify for the World Cup.

“We do not depend on other results, only rely on our team's performances. It is a good starting spot but we still have to make it successful.”

Germany's national team coach, Julian Nagelsmann, has left out VfB Stuttgart's midfielder Angelo Stiller from the squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers, sparking surprise and debate. However, Nagelsmann emphasized that Stiller's exclusion doesn't mean the door is closed for him, stating, “It's on no account a huge drama” and that Stiller's development is heading in the right direction.

Nagelsmann explained that he opted for Felix Nmecha and Aleksandar Pavlovic, who he believes are currently a “tick ahead” of Stiller. The decision has been met with criticism from some quarters, with former national team player Dietmar Hamann questioning Nagelsmann's selection, saying, “I would have taken Beier and Stiller.”

Germany is currently leading their group with 9 points, narrowly ahead of Slovakia on goal difference, and they're just two wins away from securing their spot in the 2026 World Cup. A win against Luxembourg on Friday, followed by a victory over Slovakia on November 17, will guarantee them top spot in Group A and automatic qualification.

The four-time world champions are hungry for success, aiming to go all the way and win the World Cup trophy, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This is a big opportunity for them to bounce back from their disappointing first-round exits in the last two editions.
