The M23 derby between Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion ended in a 0-0 stalemate, leaving the Eagles frustrated and Brighton picking up a valuable point. This result marks a rare goalless draw in the Premier League, especially considering the eight previous meetings at Selhurst Park had all produced goals.
The intense rivalry between the two teams was evident from the start, with Ismaïla Sarr creating an early chance for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who fired wide. Despite several promising opportunities, neither team could find the back of the net, with Brighton's Diego Gómez and Palace's Daichi Kamada also having chances to score.
Brighton had a penalty overturned by VAR after Georginio Rutter was deemed to have initiated contact with Jaydee Canvot. Crystal Palace's young defender Canvot impressed on his debut, while Rutter was booked for simulation. The draw leaves Palace 9th in the Premier League, while Brighton remains in contention.
Diego Gómez and Sarr had impressive saves at either end, keeping the game intense. The pace slowed momentarily due to Adam Wharton's treatment, but the competitive spirit remained high, with Sarr drawing fouls and referee Tim Robinson's whistle blowing more frequently.
Jaydee Canvot wasn’t able to react quickly enough to get a clean shot off when the ball was flicked towards him, but the defender stood firm in the more familiar surroundings of his own box to block Yankuba Minteh’s shot.

Wharton then fired a strike wide from outside the box after Lewis Dunk had got his head on the initial cross from Daniel Munoz.
Both teams created chances before halftime, but Brighton's Yankuba Minteh missed the target after a great combination with Diego Gómez and Sarr. Palace had a big chance after Adam Wharton's tackle, but it didn't come to anything. After the break, Gómez had a header saved, and the game remained intense.
Daichi Kamada had a great opportunity to score, but his shot went wide after Van Hecke diverted Sarr's ball into his path. The game was lacking excitement, but Georginio Rutter's dive added intensity to the atmosphere, earning him a booking. The tension remained high as Kamada's subsequent effort hit the side netting, leaving the fans disappointed.
The game ended goalless, with Jefferson Lerma blocking Yasin Ayari's attempt and Yéremy Pino's late effort being tipped behind by Bart Verbruggen. Maxence Lacroix also headed wide from a corner. The draw extends Crystal Palace's unbeaten run at home to 12 matches, keeping them one point ahead of Brighton.
The M23 derby ended in a stalemate, with both teams creating chances but lacking the quality to score. The result suits Palace, who extend their unbeaten home run, but Brighton also picks up a valuable point.
