Ronald Koeman has handed Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha his first-ever Netherlands call-up, replacing Wout Weghorst who is struggling with fitness issues. Emegha, 22, will join Chelsea next summer and has been impressive in Ligue 1, scoring four goals and assisting two in five games this season.

Last year, Emegha had a breakthrough season at Strasbourg, scoring 14 goals and providing three assists in Ligue 1. He's eligible to play for Netherlands, Togo, or Nigeria, but seems set to represent the country of his birth. Emegha's form has earned him a spot in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Poland and Lithuania.

Emanuel Emegha was initially left out of Ronald Koeman's Netherlands squad due to his recent recovery from a hamstring injury. He had been in line to start for the Dutch Under-21 team at last summer's European Championships in Slovakia, but unfortunately, an injury prevented him from joining.

Emegha has nine U21 caps with the Netherlands, scoring three goals. His impressive performance caught the attention of Koeman, who called him up to the senior squad as a replacement for the injured Wout Weghorst.

Wout Weghorst is still with the Netherlands squad, but his fitness will be re-evaluated before their crucial World Cup qualifier against Poland on Friday. The Netherlands are looking strong to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, and they'll wrap up their campaign with a home game against Lithuania on November 17.
