Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri charged by FA for allegedly spitting at Leeds United fans during 2-0 win. Tunisia international has until November 28 to respond to FA charges.

Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri is facing misconduct charges from the FA for allegedly spitting at Leeds United fans during Burnley's 2-0 Premier League win in October. The incident reportedly happened around the 67th minute, with Mejbri coming on as a substitute in the 83rd minute.


The FA has accused Mejbri of breaching the Laws of the Game and/or acting in an improper manner. He has until November 28 to respond to the charges, which could result in a multi-match suspension if proven.


Mejbri, a 22-year-old Tunisia international, joined Burnley from Manchester United last year and has featured intermittently for the club this season. Burnley is currently 17th in the standings with 10 points from 11 matches.


“It's alleged that the player acted in breach of the Laws of the Game and/or in an improper manner and/or used abusive and/or indecent behaviour by spitting at or in the direction of Leeds United supporters...,” the FA said in a statement.



Hannibal Mejbri, the 22-year-old Tunisia international, has been given a deadline of November 28 to respond to Burnley's offer. Mejbri, who joined Burnley from Manchester United last year, is currently in a tricky situation with his team, sitting 17th in the standings with 10 points from 11 matches.


Burnley's next match is a tough one, hosting third-placed Chelsea on November 22 at Turf Moor. The Clarets are looking to get back on track after a tough start to the season, and they'll need all the help they can get from their squad, including Mejbri.
