Bayer Leverkusen is back on track with a convincing 3-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg, ending Wolfsburg's winless home streak at 15 matches. Leverkusen's strong performance keeps them undefeated in their last eight Bundesliga head-to-heads against Wolfsburg.
Bayer Leverkusen's impressive form continues, with only league leaders Bayern Munich claiming more points in their first eight games under Kasper Hjulmand. The team's ruthless first-half performance, including five goals against Heidenheim, set the tone for their victory over Wolfsburg.
Bayer Leverkusen took the lead inside 10 minutes, with Jonas Hofmann scoring his second goal in as many games after a great team move down the left. Wolfsburg pushed back, but Leverkusen made them pay for missing chances, extending their lead.
Edmond Tapsoba rose highest to head home from Aleix Garcia’s stunning cross, and the home crowd’s disappointment only grew when Malik Tillman beat the offside trap just after the half-hour mark and coolly slotted past Kamil Grabara to give Leverkusen a three-goal advantage.
Interim boss Daniel Bauer had plenty to ponder at the break, not least his side’s ineffectiveness in front of goal after seeing Majer denied by Flekken after dispossessing Ibrahim Maza in his own third.
Wolfsburg pushed hard in the second half, but Leverkusen's goalkeeper Mark Flekken was solid, denying Konstantinos Koulierakis and Dzenan Pejcinovic. The hosts finally got a goal back when Denis Vavro headed home from a corner, making it 3-1.

Poku then missed a gilt-edged chance to restore Leverkusen’s three-goal lead, and that looked costly when Jonas Wind netted within seconds of coming off the Wolfsburg bench, but his celebrations were cut short as the goal was chalked off for the tightest of offsides. Die Wölfe kept pushing despite the setback, with Flekken called into action to thwart Arnold’s powerful strike from distance and Wind’s venomous volley.
Mark Flekken's solid performance helped Leverkusen secure a 3-1 win, lifting them to second in the Bundesliga. The victory is a perfect response to their previous loss to Bayern, ending Wolfsburg's hopes of a turnaround as they slip into relegation danger with a fourth consecutive defeat.
