Arne Slot concedes his tactical tweaks failed to spark a response as Forest secure 3-0 win at Anfield

Liverpool manager Arne Slot took responsibility for his team's 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, their joint-heaviest home Premier League defeat.

“If things go well or things go bad, it's my responsibility. We weren't able to create enough...”

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has taken responsibility for his team's worst loss of his Anfield reign, a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. This joint-heaviest home Premier League loss has dropped Liverpool to 11th place, putting their title chase in jeopardy.

Forest's goals came from Murillo, Nicolo Savona, and Morgan Gibbs-White, securing their sixth win in seven league games and lifting them out of the drop zone. Slot acknowledged his team's struggles, stating, “If things go well or things go bad, it's my responsibility. We weren't able to create enough.”

“Another big disappointment,” Slot told reporters. “We started off quite well for the first half an hour. We conceded the 1-0, and we weren’t able to play the way we did in the first half hour.”

The Dutchman's changes didn't spark a response, and Leverkusen secured a 3-1 win.

“If things go well or things go bad, it’s my responsibility. We weren’t able to create enough. I tried to adjust a few things, but it didn’t work out. We were unable to score a goal,” the Dutchman said.

Forest's Savona scored just 46 seconds into the second half, sparking a collapse by the home side.

“Of course, it was damaging. It was already hard to be 1-0 against a team blocking everything,” said Slot, who was serenaded by visiting fans singing “You're getting sacked in the morning.”

Liverpool's Struggling Streak: 8 Losses in 11 Games

Liverpool's recent form has been concerning, with eight losses in their last 11 games across all competitions. This downturn has raised questions about Arne Slot's tactics and the team's overall performance. The Reds' struggles have been evident, with a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield being a recent low point.

“In a few days, we have to play in the Champions League again (Wednesday when they host PSV Eindhoven), and then play three Premier League games in a short space. Keep your head up and work incredibly hard. We are trying every single day,” Slot said.

Arne Slot acknowledged that experience alone won't solve Liverpool's problems, indicating a need for change in strategy or performance.

“It’s always helpful to have experienced and quality players,” he said. “It’s not working out at this moment.”

Liverpool is dealing with a wave of injuries, including key players Florian Wirtz and Conor Bradley, who are out with muscle issues. This is a significant blow, especially with Wirtz's importance to the team and Bradley's expected return soon.

Meanwhile, summer big-money signing Alexander Isak has struggled to make an impact, starting but being largely unnoticeable. He was replaced midway through the second half, highlighting the challenges he's faced settling into the team.
