KTP's Veikkausliiga journey comes to an end as TPS Turku secures promotion with a 6-2 aggregate win. Meanwhile, Inter Turku takes the top spot with a 1-1 draw against HJK.

KTP's relegation from Veikkausliiga was sealed after TPS Turku won the playoff tie 6-2 on aggregate. The Ykkosliiga runners-up dominated the match, winning the second leg 3-2.


TPS Turku's Onni Helen scored his second goal of the tie within three minutes, putting his team 4-0 up on aggregate and leaving KTP with a mountain to climb. Despite Rangel's goal in the second half, TPS extended their lead through Albijon Muzaci's penalty, making it 5-0 on aggregate.


KTP managed to score twice in the second leg, with Rangel and Nathaniel Tahmbi finding the net, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome. TPS Turku won the second leg 3-2, sealing their promotion to the top flight.




In other Veikkausliiga news, Inter Turku took the top spot after a 1-1 draw with HJK Helsinki. Bart Straalman put Inter Turku ahead midway through the first half, but Alex Ring equalized for HJK, ending their three-match losing streak.


The score remained unchanged until the second half, when Rangel finally got KTP on the board with a goal. However, TPS quickly restored their four-goal lead when Albijon Muzaci converted a penalty seven minutes later.


KTP managed to reduce the deficit again, with Nathaniel Tahmbi scoring to make it 2-2 on the night. Despite this, KTP couldn't salvage any pride as Aapo Bostrom sealed the win for TPS with another penalty six minutes from time, making the final score 3-2 and securing TPS's promotion to the top flight. The win marked the end of KTP's three-year stint in the division, while TPS returned to the top tier for the first time since 2020.

Ilves moved within one point of the league leaders after securing a 3-1 win away at Gnistan on Saturday. The victory marked Ilves' first in four matches.




Roope Riski had a penalty saved 20 minutes into the game, but Jardell Kanga made amends for his teammate's miss by converting a spot kick five minutes later. Oliver Pettersson equalized early in the second half. However, Riski restored Ilves' lead three minutes later with a header.


The win was sealed in dramatic fashion when Marius Soderback scored in added time, following a straight red card for Rachide Gnanou. This result sees Ilves closing the gap on the top three teams in the league standings.
