Rangers' struggles continued under Danny Rohl, suffering a 3-0 thrashing at the hands of SK Brann in the Europa League. The Scottish side remained winless in the competition after three matchdays.

Despite a reasonable start, Rangers failed to trouble Brann goalkeeper Mathias Dyngeland, with Nicolas Raskin and Youssef Chermiti's headers providing little threat.

Brann's chances, on the other hand, posed a greater threat, and their attacks intensified as the first half progressed. Ulrik Mathisen had a close header from a Noah Holm flick-on, and just before the 30-minute mark, Bard Finne was denied at the near post after Holm's through ball.

Jack Butland made a crucial parry from Finne's effort, but Holm's subsequent acrobatic overhead kick sailed harmlessly over the bar, earning it a “Wrongaldo” rather than "Ronaldo” comparison.

The deadlock was broken just before halftime, however, as Brann's Emil Kornvig capitalized on a defensive mistake. Bard Finne's narrow-angle shot from the left flank deflected off John Souttar and wrong-footed Jack Butland, allowing Kornvig to slide in at the far post and score.

Rangers trailed 1-0 at halftime, and with Brann's strong European home record, their prospects looked bleak. Despite this, Danny Röhl opted against making changes at the break.

His decision not to introduce fresh legs proved costly 10 minutes into the second half, as Brann's free kick on the left flank sparked a sequence that would ultimately seal Rangers' fate.

Once again, Finne was an agent of torment, curling an inch-perfect free kick into the box, at the end of which was Jacob Sørensen, who beat the attention of Raskin to open his UEL account with a firm header past a helpless Butland.

It was only now that Rohl chose to act, with three substitutions in the following seven minutes, but the visitors continued to look a shadow of the side that went the distance with Frankfurt in the 2022 UEL final.

The third goal was all but inevitable, and Brann sealed the win with a clinical finish. Vetle Dragsnes' pinpoint cross found Noah Holm, who calmly fired past Jack Butland, handing Brann their biggest winning margin in a major European home match since September 1996.

Rangers' struggles continued, with the team losing six consecutive European matches and conceding 17 goals. Conversely, Brann celebrated a memorable win, remaining unbeaten against Scottish sides (W2, D1) and creating history in their maiden matchup against Rangers.

Rangers' dismal season persists, marked by another crushing defeat, while Brann basked in the glory of a deserved 3-0 win. This victory not only showcased Brann's prowess but also highlighted Rangers' ongoing struggles under new manager Danny Röhl, who faces a daunting challenge to turn things around.
