Ruben Amorim Seeks Consecutive Wins Against Brighton

Ruben Amorim aims for hat-trick of wins as Manchester United host Brighton

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim eyes a hat-trick of wins as his team hosts Brighton, but warns against complacency after their recent win over Liverpool.

“There is doubt if you are a manager in this kind of club. You don't win a lot of games, people are going to doubt you. They have reasons for that...”

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is chasing his first hat-trick of Premier League wins, but he remains grounded after the team's stunning 2-1 victory over Liverpool. United's 2-1 win at Anfield last weekend lifted them to ninth in the league and provided a much-needed boost.

Despite the win, Amorim urged caution, highlighting the fine margins that decided the outcome. "If Cody Gakpo's shot was 20cm different, then the narrative would be different," he said, emphasizing the need for his team to stay focused. Amorim stressed that one win doesn't define the season, and his team needs to maintain their momentum without getting carried away.

United's next challenge is against Brighton & Hove Albion, which Amorim believes will be a tough test. He emphasized that his team needs to stay calm and keep their direction, rather than changing everything after one win. Amorim's side will look to build on their recent success and prove that their win over Liverpool was no fluke.

“We use the good spirit of winning games. We know that was a good weekend for us, but our focus is on the next game. That is in the past,” Amorim told reporters ahead of Saturday's game at Old Trafford.

“We need to understand that football has changed a lot, especially in this kind of club. So we are not thinking about the last game. We are thinking that in this game, it is going to be really hard to win.

"If (Liverpool forward Cody) Gakpo shoots 20 centimetres differently, then the narrative would be completely different. So I just want to maintain some calm, some direction in what we are doing,” he added.

Ruben Amorim recognized the weight of expectation at Manchester United, especially when results aren't favorable, acknowledging the immense pressure that comes with managing a club of its stature.

“There is doubt if you are a manager in this kind of club. You don't win a lot of games, people are going to doubt you. They have reasons for that,” he said.

"But my point of view is that we need to be clear on our path and not change so much. Because if we win one game, that's all.”

Ruben Amorim faces Roberto De Zerbi's successor, Fabian Hurzeler, who has done a great job at Brighton so far. Amorim expressed huge admiration for the German manager, calling himself a "huge fan" of Hurzeler's work. Brighton sit one point behind United in 10th place.

"You can see by the way they play the game. Really intense, the quality is there, they believe a lot in what they are doing, even under pressure,” Amorim said.

“It's going to be a very difficult game. Brighton is a team that's really fun to watch. They're really good on build-up, they are really strong, they are really strong on transitions in every aspect of the game.

“They are doing well in set-pieces this season. They are a team that is really complete, and we need to be really smart and to face that game with a real focus on everything that we do because they are a very strong team.”

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim revealed that Harry Maguire and Mason Mount are doubtful for the Brighton match after picking up knocks, although he reassured that the injuries are not serious. Meanwhile, Lisandro Martinez is nearing a return to training as he continues his recovery from a knee injury.
