France captain Kylian Mbappe has pulled out of Monday's World Cup qualifier against Iceland due to a right ankle injury. The injury occurred during France's 3-0 win over Azerbaijan on Friday, where Mbappe scored a goal and assisted another in the 83rd minute.

Mbappe's withdrawal was confirmed by the French Football Federation (FFF), stating that national coach Didier Deschamps has decided not to replace him in the squad. France currently tops Group D with a perfect record of nine points from three matches and will face third-placed Iceland in Reykjavik.

Mbappe's absence will be significant for France, given his impressive form this season with 14 goals in 10 appearances for Real Madrid. The French team's chances of winning against Iceland might be impacted by Mbappe's injury.

“The national coach (Didier Deschamps) has confirmed his withdrawal. Kylian Mbappe has been made available to his club and will not be replaced,” FFF said in a statement.

France, currently topping Group D with a flawless record of nine points from three matches, is set to take on Iceland, who sit third in the standings, in Reykjavik. This match is a crucial test for both teams, with France looking to maintain their perfect record and Iceland seeking to upset the leaders. Given Kylian Mbappe's withdrawal from the French squad due to a right ankle injury, the match's dynamics could be significantly altered.
