Following the scans that revealed a high-grade lesion to the biceps femoris muscle, Napoli confirmed that De Bruyne underwent surgery in Antwerp, Belgium, which was successful. He will now begin his rehabilitation process in Belgium before returning to Naples for further recovery.

The Belgian international's absence is expected to be lengthy, with Napoli's sports coordinator Gabriele Oriali estimating that he'll be out for three to four months. De Bruyne has scored four goals for Napoli this season, including three penalties and one free-kick, making his absence a significant blow to the team.

Kevin De Bruyne's return to action remains uncertain, with Napoli yet to provide a specific timeframe for his comeback. Given his history of hamstring issues, including a similar injury in 2023 that required surgery while he was at Manchester City, De Bruyne's recovery will be closely monitored.

De Bruyne is reportedly set to undergo surgery in Antwerp today, and sources indicate he'll likely miss three to four months, potentially returning in February 2026. This would mean he'll miss crucial matches for both Napoli and Belgium, including the World Cup qualifiers.

The midfielder's absence will be felt significantly by Napoli, particularly in their Champions League campaign and key Serie A fixtures against teams like Juventus and Roma. Coach Antonio Conte will need to adjust his lineup and tactics in De Bruyne's absence.

“As planned, Kevin De Bruyne underwent surgery today in Antwerp following a high-grade injury to his right thigh biceps femoris muscle,” Napoli said in a statement.

“The operation was a complete success. De Bruyne... will continue the first phase of his post-surgical rehabilitation in Belgium.”
