“I've been through this before... and I always come back stronger as I'm so motivated to fulfill my potential as a player...”

Jack Draper, the world number 7 and Britain's top tennis player, has announced that he's out for the rest of the year due to a persistent arm injury. The 23-year-old was forced to withdraw from the US Open before his second-round match against Zizou Bergs, despite winning his first-round match against Federico Agustin Gomez.

Draper's arm injury was diagnosed as bone bruising after his Wimbledon second-round defeat to Marin Cilic. Despite initial scans suggesting recovery, Draper has decided to prioritize rest and rehabilitation over competing in the remaining tournaments of the season.

Impact on Draper's Career:

ATP Finals Hopes Dashed: Draper's withdrawal means he will miss the season-ending World Tour Finals in Turin, a tournament he was well-placed to qualify for.

Ranking Points at Risk: He will also lose ranking points from last year's Vienna Open title, which he won't be able to defend.

Lucrative Exhibition Tournament Missed: Draper had signed up for the 6 Kings Slam exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia next month, which he will now miss.

Despite the setback, Draper remains optimistic about his return, saying, I've been through this before... and I always come back stronger as I'm so motivated to fulfill my potential as a player.”

Jack Draper's comeback at the US Open may have been premature, as the world number seven has announced he'll be sitting out the rest of 2025 due to a bruised humerus in his serving arm. Despite winning his first-round match against Federico Agustin Gomez, Draper's injury forced him to withdraw from the tournament. “Unfortunately, the injury to my arm is something I have to rest and means I'll be sitting out the rest of 2025,” he revealed on social media.

Draper had been struggling with the injury since Wimbledon, where he suffered a second-round exit to Marin Cilic. He had hoped to recover in time for the US Open but ultimately couldn't shake off the pain. This setback will see Draper miss several key tournaments, including the ATP Finals and several Masters 1000 events. His absence will likely impact his ranking, potentially dropping out of the top 10.

2025 Season Highlights and Lowlights:

Indian Wells Triumph: Draper won the biggest title of his career at the Indian Wells Masters, beating Holger Rune 6-2, 6-2 in the final.

US Open Semifinalist Last Year: Draper reached the semifinals of the US Open last year, losing to eventual winner Jannik Sinner.

Injury-Prone Career: Draper's career has been marred by injuries, including shoulder and abdominal issues.

Current Record: Draper ends his season with a win-loss record of 30-9, including victories over top 10 players Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz.
