West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph won't be part of the two-Test series against India due to an undisclosed injury. Cricket West Indies announced Joseph's absence on Friday, stating he'll undergo re-evaluation before the white-ball tour of Bangladesh. Johann Layne, an uncapped pace-bowling all-rounder, will replace Joseph in the squad.

West Indies fast bowler Shamar Joseph has been ruled out of the two-test series against India due to an injury. “Joseph has been ruled out due to an injury and will be re-evaluated ahead of the Bangladesh limited-overs series,” Cricket West Indies (CWI) said in a statement. The nature of the injury remains undisclosed.


Joseph, who was instrumental in West Indies' first test victory in Australia in 27 years, despite playing with a bruised toe, will be replaced by uncapped fast bowling all-rounder Johann Layne. Layne, a 22-year-old pace-bowling all-rounder from Barbados, has shown promise in domestic cricket, taking 66 wickets at an average of 22.28 in 19 first-class matches.




The West Indies team arrived in India on Wednesday, ahead of the series beginning in Ahmedabad on October 2. They'll play two test matches against India, followed by a limited-overs series against Bangladesh, featuring three ODIs and three T20s from October 18 to November 1. Joseph's absence is a significant loss for the West Indies, given his impressive form in test cricket, with 51 wickets in 11 matches at an average of 21.66.
