Verona battle for point to spoil Juventus' impeccable start to Serie A season...
Hellas Verona’s winless start to the Serie A season continued, after a spirited 1-1 draw against Juventus at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi that ended the Bianconeri’s 100% league record for 2025/26.
Aiming to build on a rousing 4-3 victory in last weekend’s derby clash against Inter Milan, Juve started on the front foot and eventually found the opener after 19 minutes, when the ball was worked out to Francisco Conceicao on the left flank, and he drove inside before burying a perfect finish in the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Despite the strong start, Igor Tudor’s side lost their intensity after hitting the front as the hosts started to grow back into the game.
Verona had little to show for their efforts, but against a team travelling on the back of seven goals conceded in two games, they found a leveller after a stroke of luck just before half-time.
A long throw into the box appeared to be dealt with by Joao Mario, but a VAR review showed he controlled the ball with his arm, not his head.

Despite the lengthy wait, Gift Orban kept his cool, and his penalty had just enough power to beat Michele Di Gregorio, who tipped the ball in off the bar
Juventus had a promising chance to double their lead shortly after halftime when Dusan Vlahovic broke through on goal, but Lorenzo Montipo made a crucial save, turning Vlahovic's near-post finish behind. Verona then gained momentum, with Milan Orban's powerful shot being tipped over the bar by Di Gregorio. The hosts thought they had equalized when Suat Serdar scored from close range, but VAR intervened, ruling him offside.
VAR Decision:
- Suat Serdar's Disallowed Goal: The goal was ruled out due to offside, keeping the score level at 1-0 in favor of Juventus.
Despite the VAR decision, Verona continued to press for an equalizer. The game remained tense, with both teams creating opportunities, but the scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle.
