Monaco captain Denis Zakaria ruled out for two months with thigh injury, missing key Champions League matches against Manchester City, Tottenham, and Bodo Glimt.

“We don't expect to see him on the pitch for at least two months...”

Denis Zakaria, the captain of AS Monaco, has been sidelined for at least two months due to a thigh injury, according to coach Adi Hutter. This significant blow to the team means Zakaria will miss crucial Champions League group matches against Manchester City, Tottenham, and Bodo Glimt.

The injury, which already kept Zakaria out of Monaco's midweek Champions League defeat to Club Brugge, is expected to keep him sidelined for an extended period. Hutter confirmed the extent of the injury ahead of Sunday's Ligue 1 fixture against Metz, stating, “We don't expect to see him on the pitch for at least two months.” Zakaria's absence will likely lead to changes in Monaco's starting lineup, with young players Lamine Camara and Aladji Bamba potentially seeing more minutes.

Monaco suffered a significant setback in their Champions League campaign, losing 4-1 to Club Brugge without captain Denis Zakaria, who pulled up injured in training. The extent of Zakaria's injury was revealed on Saturday, and coach Adi Hütter confirmed that he'll be sidelined for at least two months. This rules him out for Monaco's upcoming Champions League matches against Manchester City, Tottenham, and Bodo/Glimt.

Despite the absence of Zakaria, Monaco's struggles went beyond just his injury. Club Brugge's potent attack, led by Hans Vanaken, Nicolo Tresoldi, and Raphael Onyedika, proved too much for Monaco's defense. Vanaken scored one goal and laid on another, showcasing his skill and experience. Monaco's only consolation came late in the game with Ansu Fati's strike.

In Ligue 1, Monaco has performed well so far this season, earning nine points from four games. They finished third behind Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille last season and will be looking to improve on that finish. However, their Champions League form has been a concern, and they'll need to regroup quickly after this setback.
