Real Oviedo pulled off a stunning comeback against Valencia, scoring two goals in consecutive minutes to secure a 2-1 victory at the Estadio Mestalla. This win marked their first away victory against Valencia since 1988. The match, initially delayed due to extreme rainfall warnings, saw Valencia take an early lead, with Arnaut Danjuma scoring in the fourth minute.

A clever move led to the breakthrough as Luis Rioja's cross from the right flank found Arnaut Danjuma at the back post. The Dutch striker showcased his acrobatic skills with a scissor kick, scoring for the second consecutive game and breaking the deadlock. Danjuma's hunger for goals was evident, and he nearly doubled his tally just 10 minutes into the game. However, Aarón Escandell's impressive reflex save denied him the opportunity, highlighting the goalkeeper's exceptional skill.

As none of Valencia’s six league games this term had produced more than a single goal before the break, the chances of an immediate Oviedo fightback appeared slim.

Veljko Paunovic’s men eventually settled into the contest, but calling Julen Agirrezabala into action was proving tricky, as Lucas Ahijado and Santiago Colombatto both sent long-range efforts over the bar.

To Oviedo’s credit, Los Che’s stopper was eventually called into action to keep out Colombatto before the break, but that only prolonged the visitors’ wait for an away goal since returning to the top flig

A slow start to the second period prompted Carlos Corberan into a triple change just 10 minutes after the restart, and that certainly helped inject greater energy into the hosts.

One of those substitutes, Diego Lopez, laid on a chance for the livewire Danjuma, but he could only drag his left-footed shot across goal and wide of the target.

Another chance fell Danjuma’s way in the closing stages – this time from the penalty spot – after Alberto Reina was penalised for an elbow strike on Mouctar Diakhaby

Aarón Escandell's exceptional reflexes denied Valencia a crucial advantage. He made a stunning save on Arnaut Danjuma's penalty kick, diving to his left to keep the ball out. This remarkable save proved instrumental in keeping Real Oviedo in the game, ultimately paving the way for their dramatic comeback.

The game took a dramatic turn when Luka Ilic scored from close range, leveling the score for Real Oviedo. The match was filled with excitement as Ahijado's pass released Salomón Rondón, but his shot sailed over the top after taking a wicked deflection. Despite the intense pressure, Oviedo managed to hold on, even after Ilic was sent off for a late challenge in stoppage time. This win marked a significant turnaround for Oviedo, helping them climb out of the relegation zone.
