Sunderland is set to sign RB Leipzig defender Lutsharel Geertruida on a loan deal, with a reported loan fee of €2.5 million. The Black Cats have secured an option to make the move permanent for €23 million, potentially adding a long-term solution to their defensive lineup.

Lutsharel Geertruida, a 25-year-old Dutch international defender, has had a challenging time in Germany since joining RB Leipzig from Feyenoord in August 2024 for around €20 million.
