Borussia Monchengladbach has parted ways with manager Gerardo Seoane after a dismal start to the Bundesliga season. The club announced the decision on Monday, citing a lack of faith in Seoane's ability to turn the team's fortunes around. Gladbach's winless streak now stands at 10 league games, with the team managing only one point from their opening three matches.

Seoane's tenure at Gladbach, which began in June 2023, will be remembered for more than just the team's recent struggles. Despite guiding the team to a 10th-place finish last season, he couldn't build on that momentum this year. The 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Werder Bremen on Sunday was the final straw, leaving Gladbach without a goal in three consecutive league games.

This isn't Seoane's first experience with early-season dismissal. He was previously fired by Bayer Leverkusen in October 2022, only to be replaced by Xabi Alonso, who went on to win the Bundesliga and German Cup with the team the following season. Gladbach's struggles are part of a larger trend, with the team failing to qualify for European competitions since the 2020-21 season.

“After an intensive review of our start to the season, we have come to the conclusion that we have to make a change in the position of head coach," Gladbach Sporting Director Roland Virkus said in a statement.

“After 10 Bundesliga games without a win, we have lost faith that the turnaround with Gerardo can succeed.”

Borussia Mönchengladbach has parted ways with Gerardo Seoane, the Swiss coach who took the reins in June 2023. Seoane's tenure saw the team play 78 matches, including 78 in the Bundesliga, with a record of 20 wins, 20 draws and 31 losses. His departure comes after a disappointing start to the season, with the team managing only one point from three matches and failing to score a goal.

Seoane's replacement will be Eugen Polanski, the Under-23 coach, on a temporary basis. Polanski, a 39-year-old former Poland international, has been working with Borussia's youth teams and reserves. He's familiar with the club's philosophy and has experience developing players. Polanski's appointment aims to bring fresh ideas and energy to the team.

Borussia's sporting director, Roland Virkus, cited the team's poor start to the season as the reason for Seoane's departure, stating that after 10 Bundesliga games without a win, they lost faith in Seoane's ability to turn things around.
