Iga Swiatek advances to the third round of the US Open, ending Dutch hopes with a gritty 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win over Suzan Lamens. This victory marks another milestone for Swiatek, who dominated the match despite a strong fightback from Lamens in the second set.
One-time US Open winner Swiatek opened the match emphatically and broke Lamens first time of asking as she raced out to a 1-0 lead in sets. The Dutch 66th-ranked player only managed to get to break point once and did not record a single winner, as opposed to Swiatek's nine.
An up-and-down second set started with Lamens bringing the fight to Swiatek, who was forced to defend two break points at 1-0 up. After fending off Lamens' opening move, Swiatek went up a break with her second break point of the set.

Lamens staged a dramatic turnaround in the second set, breaking Swiatek with a love game after Swiatek had broken her earlier. However, Swiatek regrouped and secured a break in the seventh game. Despite her efforts, Swiatek couldn't withstand Lamens' aggressive play and lost the set.
In the third set, Swiatek asserted her dominance, winning four consecutive games to take a 4-1 lead. Although Lamens managed to break Swiatek's serve, it wasn't enough to change the match's outcome. Swiatek showcased her stellar defense and secured the win on her third match point.
Swiatek's Dominant Performance
Swiatek made quick work of Emiliana Arango in the first round, winning 6-1, 6-2 in just 61 minutes. Her next opponent, Suzan Lamens, proved to be a more formidable challenge. Lamens, a US Open rookie, had previously defeated wild card Valerie Glozman in straight sets, setting the stage for a competitive match against the Polish phenom.

What's Next for Swiatek?
With this win, Swiatek moves on to face Anna Kalinskaya in the third round. The Polish player has been on a roll, winning 50 matches this season and maintaining an impressive record on hard courts. Swiatek's consistency and skill have made her a top contender at the US Open.
