West Ham United confirms Michail Antonio's departure after his contract wasn't renewed. The 35-year-old Jamaican striker suffered a serious leg injury in a car accident last December and didn't play again for the club. Despite his departure, West Ham pledges to support Antonio's rehabilitation.

Michail Antonio became West Ham's all-time leading scorer in the Premier League with 83 goals in 323 appearances after joining the club from Nottingham Forest in 2015.

“Michail will always be a much-loved and respected member of the West Ham United family. As has been the case since December, the Club will continue to support and assist him in his ongoing rehabilitation, offering him access to training, facilities and medical care if needed,” West Ham said in a statement.

“Dialogue continues over his future involvement with the Club in an alternative capacity - including one that would enable others to benefit from his experience and leadership qualities - and he will forever hold a special place in our 130-year history.”

Antonio's Achievements and Comeback

Michail Antonio played a key role in West Ham's historic 2023 Europa Conference League win, ending the club's 43-year trophy drought. He made a successful return to action in June, featuring as a substitute for Jamaica in a CONCACAF Gold Cup match against Guatemala.
