“He's going to change things here. My father and I, who had no interest in MLS, are already won over...”

LAFC fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of South Korean star Son Heung-min, gathering at the airport in anticipation of his unveiling. Although Son hasn't been officially announced as a LAFC player, reports from ESPN and The Athletic suggest he'll sign with the MLS team for a record-breaking transfer fee of $26 million (£19.5m) after leaving Tottenham Hotspur. A press conference has been scheduled ahead of the unveiling.

LAFC has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday at 2 pm local time, fueling speculation about a major announcement. The event is widely expected to be the unveiling of Heung-Min Son. Meanwhile, about 40 fans gathered at Los Angeles International Airport on Tuesday, hoping to catch a glimpse of Son or get an autograph or photo, following reports of his possible arrival.

Despite gathering at the airport, fans were unable to see Son Heung-min, as he had been sent off in South Korea hours earlier. Jun Kwon, a 19-year-old fan, expressed his admiration for the player, saying, “Son is immensely important to me. I used to wake up at five or six in the morning to watch him play in England.” Kwon was among the fans hoping to catch a glimpse of Son or get an autograph.

Jun Kwon was already convinced of Son's impact on LAFC, saying, “He's going to change things here. My father and I, who had no interest in MLS, are already won over.” Kwon proudly wore a gold and black LAFC jersey with Son's name on it, which he had purchased just that morning, showcasing his enthusiasm for the new player.

During his decade-long stint with Tottenham Hotspur, Son Heung-min scored 173 goals in 454 appearances. The winger's departure from Spurs was confirmed after his final match with the Premier League club in Seoul last weekend, paving the way for his move to LAFC.

Son Heung-min will join LAFC, replacing French striker Olivier Giroud, who recently moved to Lille. He'll share the locker room with French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, a former Tottenham teammate.
