Read about Jobe Bellingham's anxieties and ambitions as he joins Borussia Dortmund, following in brother Jude's footsteps.

“This was a decision I made and it's for myself. My journey is not anyone else's to understand...”

Jobe Bellingham, 19, has openly shared his anxieties about following in the footsteps of his brother Jude, who made a notable move to Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund. Jobe recently joined Dortmund, and the pressure to match his brother's success weighs on him.

Jude Bellingham has become a standout player globally, key to England's national team. His younger brother Jobe, meanwhile, has joined Borussia Dortmund from Sunderland, following in Jude's footsteps and facing high expectations.

Jobe Bellingham acknowledged the pressure of following his brother Jude's success, saying, “It's something you do think about. You have these anxieties, especially me as I'm only young.”

“I'm not perfect. I do think about these things, but that was down to the club convincing me that these things wouldn't have much bearing on me.

“This was a decision I made and it's for myself. My journey is not anyone else's to understand,” he added.

Jobe Bellingham made a promising Dortmund debut in the Club World Cup, scoring and assisting in four games. To avoid comparisons with brother Jude, Jobe opted to wear his first name on his jersey, a choice he also made during his time at Sunderland.

Jobe Bellingham shared that Jude was “extremely proud” of his Dortmund move, advising him to “embrace it.” Jobe noted their conversations are usually lighthearted, adding he doesn't aim to be a superstar or big personality off the pitch. He also highlighted playing in a deeper midfield role, differing from his brother Jude.

Jobe Bellingham's focus is on performance, saying, “When I play I just want to be one of the highest performing players and get my head down.” Dortmund's season kicks off on August 18 in the German Cup.
