Arteta Sets Sights on Trophy Success
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants his team to feel 'invincible' at home, fueled by a special connection with the fans, as they aim to end their trophy drought.
“We have to set the demands that we want within this goal, because that's the most important thing -- the internal demands have...”
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is confident his team can end their five-season trophy drought, expressing the players' “big belief” that this season will be the one they lift a major trophy. Arteta's last major trophy win was the FA Cup in his debut season in 2019/20.
Under Arteta, Arsenal has become a consistent contender for major honors, finishing second in the Premier League for three consecutive years and reaching the Champions League semifinals last season, a first since 2009.
With nearly £200 million invested in new signings, including Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, and Kepa Arrizabalaga, the pressure is on Mikel Arteta to deliver a major trophy and end Arsenal's five-season drought.
“We know what our targets are and what we want to achieve this season -- there is a big belief in our ability to achieve that,” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said, expressing confidence in his team's chances of ending their trophy drought.

“We have been very, very close the last few seasons and the whole team is going to determine whether we achieve that or not.
“But at the same time, we have to make sure that we don't lose sight of what we have to do on a daily basis to get to the levels that we want.
“We have to set the demands that we want within this goal, because that's the most important thing -- the internal demands have to always exceed any external demand. That is what we are trying to achieve every single day.”
Mikel Arteta wants Arsenal's players to tap into the special connection with the fans, aiming to feel “invincible” at home. “We want our people to start connecting with our players straight away, to start to build momentum and to start to feel that at home we are invincible,” he said.
“That we play here with such passion, energy and connection with our people, that we are going to win the game,” Arteta said, as Arsenal prepare for a tough Premier League opener against Manchester United on August 17.
