Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has come out of an induced coma after undergoing surgery for a serious abdominal injury sustained during a Premier League match.
The injury occurred during Sunday's Premier League match against Leicester City, when Awoniyi collided with the goalpost in the 88th minute. Despite continuing to play, he was visibly limping for the final 10 minutes of the game.

Nottingham Forest had previously stated that Awoniyi was recovering well after surgery, but the club hasn't commented further outside regular business hours.
According to manager Nuno Espirito Santo, Awoniyi was left on the pitch due to a miscommunication between the coaching and medical staff. BBC Sport reports that the incident resulted in a ruptured intestine for the 27-year-old striker.
