Leeds Edges Burnley on Goal Difference to Secure Championship Title

Dramatic final day in the Championship saw Leeds United crowned champions, while Luton Town suffered relegation to League One, just two seasons after reaching the Premier League.

Leeds United secured the Championship title on a dramatic final day, thanks to a last-minute goal from Manor Solomon that sealed a 2-1 win over Plymouth.

The victory propelled Leeds to the top of the table on goal difference, edging out Burnley, who finished with the same 100 points after a 3-1 win over Millwall.

Coventry City and Bristol City secured the final two play-off spots, joining Sheffield United and Sunderland. Coventry's 2-0 win over Middlesbrough marked their second consecutive year in the play-offs. Bristol City came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Preston, clinching the last spot.

Meanwhile, Blackburn narrowly missed out on the play-offs despite leading Sheffield United through Yuki Ohashi, only for Anel Ahmedhodzic to equalize and secure a 1-1 draw, condemning them to a disappointing finish. Hull avoided relegation with a 1-1 draw at Portsmouth, finishing above Luton on goal difference. Luton themselves were relegated after a 5-3 loss to West Brom, joining Plymouth and Cardiff in League One next season.

Luton Town's Dramatic Downfall

Luton Town suffered a stunning reversal of fortune, plummeting to the third tier just two seasons after reaching the top flight.

The Hatters' 5-3 loss to West Brom sealed their relegation, with Tom Fellows and Callum Styles scoring twice for the hosts, while Millenic Alli's double and Jordan Clark's goal weren't enough to save Luton from a third-tier return for the first time since 2018/19.

Luton Town's relegation marks a rare feat, joining an elite group in the Premier League era. They are the fourth team to fall from the top flight to League One in consecutive seasons, after Sunderland (2018), Swindon (1994-95), and Wolves (2012-13).

The loss sparked a furious reaction from Luton fans, who directed angry chants at the players, questioning their commitment and ability.
