Houston Rockets Down Golden State Warriors 115-107
The Houston Rockets force a Game 7 with a 115-107 win over the Golden State Warriors, behind Fred VanVleet's 29 points.
The Houston Rockets stunned the Golden State Warriors with a 115-107 victory in Game 6, forcing a deciding Game 7 in the process. This thrilling win came after the Rockets rode a dominant fourth quarter, outscoring the Warriors 29-23.
With this nail-biting win, the Rockets are now one step away from making history as the 14th team to overcome a 3-1 deficit in an NBA playoff series. Game 7 is set for Sunday at the Toyota Center in Houston, where the Rockets will look to their home-court advantage to push them over the edge. The winner of this series will move on to face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the semifinals.
The Rockets' balanced attack, led by Fred VanVleet's impressive 29 points, six 3-pointers, and eight assists, along with Alperen Sengun's 21 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists, proved too much for the Warriors to handle. Now, they'll look to continue their winning momentum in Game 7.
Fred VanVleet led the Rockets with 29 points, including several clutch shots, while Alperen Sengun contributed 21 points and 14 rebounds. The duo's strong performance helped Houston maintain a lead for most of the game.
In the fourth quarter, the Rockets sealed their win with a decisive 12-0 run, silencing the crowd of 18,000 at Chase Center. Amen Thompson chipped in with 14 points, while Steven Adams added 17 points off the bench, going 4-for-4 from the floor and providing key defense with five blocks among Houston's total of five.
Stephen Curry scored 29 points for the Warriors but was inefficient, making just 9-of-23 shots and committing five turnovers. The Rockets' defense effectively contained Golden State's potent offense, setting up a deciding Game 7.
Jimmy Butler led the Warriors with 27 points, but none of his fellow starters scored in double figures.

“Just make everything tough,” Fred VanVleet said of the Rockets' mindset as they took a two-point lead into the fourth quarter. “Obviously we know what they bring to the table. You want to make everything tough, contest everything... I just think our youth and our athleticism can wear on them over the course of the game, and we're able to have some success lately.”
The Warriors struggled early in Game 5 but improved slightly in Game 6. The first quarter was tightly contested, with 10 lead changes and the Warriors never leading by more than two points.
The first quarter ended with Houston leading 25-21 after Tari Eason's three-pointer and a Jalen Green dunk following Eason's steal. The game remained tight in the second quarter, with Stephen Curry tying the score at 46-46 on a three-pointer. However, the Rockets pulled away again to lead 53-48 at halftime.
The Rockets maintained a slim lead heading into the fourth quarter, ahead 86-84. Fred VanVleet then sparked a crucial run with a three-pointer, drawing a foul and converting the free throw. This set the tone for the rest of the quarter, as Houston outscored Golden State to secure the win and force a Game 7.
The winner of the series will advance to face the Minnesota Timberwolves in the next round, who advanced after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers in five games.
