Fan Injured in Fall from Stands at PNC Park During Pirates vs Cubs

A fan fell approximately 20 feet from the right-field stands onto the warning track at PNC Park during the Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs game on Wednesday. The incident occurred in the seventh inning as Andrew McCutchen's hit bounced through the left side of the Cubs infield and was deflected into shallow right.
The Pirates immediately responded, with medical staff, EMS, and other personnel administering care. The fan, an adult male, was transported to Allegheny General Hospital. Details about his injuries are currently unavailable.
Both teams' managers expressed concern for the fan's well-being. Pirates manager Derek Shelton thanked the medical staff and asked for prayers for the fan's recovery. Cubs manager Craig Counsell echoed similar sentiments, hoping the fan would be okay.
The game was delayed for around 10 minutes as players and fans watched the fan receive medical attention. The Pirates' clubhouse was closed after the game, with thoughts and prayers focused on the fan and his family.

Pirates manager Derek Shelton witnessed the fan's fall, along with Cubs manager Craig Counsell. “We both got out there,” Shelton said. “I don't think the umpire saw it unfortunately because of the way the ball kicked.”

“It's extremely unfortunate. I mean, that's an understatement,” Shelton added, praising the medical staff's swift response. He asked “everybody to keep him in your prayers” as the team awaited further news on the fan's condition. The Pirates confirmed the fan had been hospitalized.
“Tonight, during the seventh inning of the game at PNC Park, an adult male fell from the right field bleachers onto the field of play,” the Pirates said. “Pittsburgh EMS, as well as the Pirates and Cubs athletic training teams and other PNC Park personnel reacted and responded immediately and administered care.
“He was transported to Allegheny General Hospital. No further information is available at this time.”
