The Tennessee Titans chose University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward as the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Ward, a 22-year-old from Texas, had an impressive college career, completing 305 of 454 passes for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns, along with seven interceptions. He also showcased his running skills with 60 carries for 204 yards and four touchdowns. Ward's work ethic and faith in his abilities paid off, as he told ESPN, “The hard work I put myself through, just the unbelievable work ethic, I just always had faith.”

Jaguars Trade Up for Travis Hunter

In a surprising move, the Jacksonville Jaguars traded up to select two-way star Travis Hunter, a Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Colorado. Hunter's versatility on both offense and defense makes him a rare talent in the NFL. Jaguars general manager James Gladstone expressed excitement about Hunter's potential, stating, “There are players you can target and acquire who alter the trajectory of a game... Travis has the potential to do that.” The Jaguars gave up several picks, including the fifth overall pick, the 36th pick, the 126th pick, and a 2026 first-round pick to secure Hunter.

Other Top Picks

  • New York Giants: Selected Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter with the third overall pick.
  • New England Patriots: Chose LSU's Will Campbell, an offensive tackle, with the fourth pick.
  • Cleveland Browns: Used the fifth pick, acquired from Jacksonville, to select Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham.

The Tennessee Titans hold the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, courtesy of their 3-14 record last season, which was the worst in the league. They are expected to select Miami's Cam Ward, a 22-year-old quarterback from Texas, who had an impressive season completing 305 of 454 passes for 4,313 yards and 39 touchdowns with only seven interceptions. Ward also showcased his running skills with 60 carries for 204 yards and four touchdowns.

“The hard work that I put myself through, just the unbelievable work ethic that I have, I just always had faith,” Ward told ESPN, reflecting on his journey. Titans General Manager Mike Borgonzi has expressed confidence in their decision, stating, “We've come to a consensus. We'll pick at No. 1 on Thursday night.” With Ward being a popular pick in mock drafts, it seems likely the Titans will draft him.

The expected first-overall pick of Cam Ward by the Tennessee Titans was quickly overshadowed by a bold move from the Jacksonville Jaguars. They traded up to secure the second overall pick from the Cleveland Browns, using it to select versatile two-way star Travis Hunter.

“There are players that you can target and acquire that alter the trajectory of a football team,” Jaguars general manager James Gladstone said, explaining the decision to invest in Hunter. Hunter, a Heisman Trophy winner, excelled as both a cornerback and wide receiver for the University of Colorado under coach Deion Sanders, a legendary two-way player himself. Such dual-threat players are rare in the NFL, making Hunter a highly valuable pick.

“There are very few, and it's rare to be able to target and prioritise a player, who can alter the sport itself. And Travis is somebody that we view has the potential to do that.

“Obviously, there's a lot for him to learn as he steps into the NFL, but we view him through the lens of unique and it's exciting for us to be able to add someone to this organization who by being nothing more than who he is, elevates the space around him,” he added.
