Masters Final Round: McIlroy Holds Slim Lead Over DeChambeau

Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau will face off in the final round of the Masters, with McIlroy holding a two-shot lead.

Rory McIlroy is on the cusp of achieving golfing immortality as he tees off in the final round of the Masters with a two-shot lead over Bryson DeChambeau. McIlroy is chasing a career Grand Slam, a feat accomplished by only a handful of golfers, including Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods. A win would mark a significant milestone in McIlroy's career.

Bryson DeChambeau is also in pursuit of a major breakthrough, seeking to become the first LIV Golf member to win the Masters. DeChambeau has been consistent throughout the tournament, becoming the only player to break 70 in each of the first three rounds. He capped his third round with an impressive 48-foot birdie putt from off the 18th green, keeping his title hopes alive. A win would mark DeChambeau's third major title.

Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau will face off in a thrilling final-round pairing at the Masters, teeing off at 2:30 p.m. ET in a rematch of sorts from last year's US Open. McIlroy acknowledged the electric atmosphere, saying, “It's going to be a little rowdy and a little loud. I'm just going to have to settle in and really try to keep myself in my own little bubble and keep my head down.” This high-pressure situation could make all the difference in the pursuit of the championship.

DeChambeau, who won the US Open last year after McIlroy's late collapse, is relishing the challenge. “It will be the grandest stage that we've had in a long time and I'm excited for it,” he said. This final pairing marks a rare occasion, with only three instances in the past 30 years where two multiple major champions have paired together in the final round of a major. Canada's Corey Conners trails in third, four shots behind, and will tee off at 2:20 p.m. ET alongside LIV's Patrick Reed.

Defending champion Scottie Scheffler, along with other major winners like Shane Lowry, Jason Day, and Justin Rose, sits seven shots off the lead in a four-way tie for sixth place. With McIlroy and DeChambeau set to battle it out, the stage is set for an exciting conclusion to the Masters.
