LaLiga: Atletico Madrid Survives Scare to Beat Valladolid 4-2

Atletico Madrid came from behind to beat Real Valladolid 4-2 in a thrilling La Liga match, with Julian Alvarez scoring a brace.

Atletico Madrid secured a hard-fought 4-2 victory over struggling Real Valladolid at the Metropolitano Stadium. Despite dominating early possession, Atletico were caught off guard when Valladolid were awarded a penalty after Clement Lenglet handled a corner in the box. Mamadou Sylla scored the penalty, sending Jan Oblak the wrong way.

However, Atletico quickly responded when they were awarded a penalty just four minutes later. Julian Alvarez scored from the spot, striking the ball down the middle, which goalkeeper Andre Ferreira got his feet on but couldn't keep out. Atletico then took the lead before halftime, thanks to Giuliano Simeone's impressive left-footed finish after cutting inside.

Atletico's victory marked their eighth straight league win against Valladolid at home. Despite the scare, they managed to come out on top, with Julian Alvarez scoring a brace and Simeone adding to the tally. The win was a testament to Atletico's resilience and ability to turn the game around after being shocked by Valladolid's early penalty.

After Valladolid's early penalty gave them a brief advantage, Atletico Madrid regained control of the match. However, Javi Sanchez redeemed himself in the second half with a deflected free-kick that leveled the score. Atletico quickly responded with substitutions, and Alexander Sorloth had a chance to put them ahead but headed wide.

Atletico was awarded another penalty after Henrique fouled Marcos Llorente, and Julian Alvarez scored his second goal, placing the ball into the bottom corner. Thomas Lemar, another substitute, had a chance to seal the win but was denied by Ferreira. However, Sorloth made up for his earlier miss by tucking in a rebound after Rodrigo Riquelme's shot was saved.

The 4-2 win keeps Atletico in the title chase, narrowing the gap to Barcelona and Real Madrid to seven and three points, respectively. For Valladolid, the loss extended their away losing streak to 11 games, leaving them at the bottom of the table. Despite the scare, Atletico's victory showcased their resilience and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
