Isaiah Stewart Suspended Two Games, Four Others Get One-Game Bans for NBA Brawl
Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart has been suspended two games without pay by the NBA for his role in a brawl during Sunday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Stewart has been handed a two-game suspension without pay by the NBA following a brawl during Sunday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Stewart's punishment was the harshest among the five players involved, due to his role in escalating the on-court altercation and his history of repeated unsportsmanlike actions.
Four other players received one-game suspensions without pay: Ron Holland II and Marcus Sasser of the Pistons, and Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo of the Timberwolves. The altercation began with a defensive foul by Holland on Reid, leading to technical fouls and ejections for all five players. The NBA's disciplinary actions were announced by Executive VP and head of basketball operations Joe Dumars.
In addition to Isaiah Stewart's two-game suspension, four other players were assessed one-game bans without pay for their roles in the altercation. The players receiving one-game suspensions were Ron Holland II and Marcus Sasser of the Detroit Pistons, as well as Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The incident occurred during Minnesota's 123-104 win over the Pistons, with the altercation starting when Ron Holland II committed a defensive foul on Naz Reid with 8:36 remaining in the second quarter. Reid reacted by pointing at Holland and confronting him, which led to a further escalation of the situation. Holland then pushed Donte DiVincenzo, prompting DiVincenzo to respond by shoving Holland in the chest, further intensifying the incident.
The altercation escalated further when Ron Holland, Donte DiVincenzo, and Naz Reid became entangled and fell into the spectator stands. This prompted Isaiah Stewart and Marcus Sasser to intervene, with Stewart and Sasser shoving DiVincenzo and Reid, respectively, and adding fuel to the tensions.
The incident resulted in all five players being ejected from the game, with each receiving technical fouls. The NBA's subsequent disciplinary actions will see Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo serve their one-game suspensions on Tuesday when the Minnesota Timberwolves visit the Denver Nuggets. Isaiah Stewart will begin his two-game ban on Wednesday, when the Detroit Pistons face the Oklahoma City Thunder. On the same night, Marcus Sasser and Ron Holland will serve their one-game suspensions.
