England Women's Assistant Arjan Veurink to Leave for Netherlands Job

England women's assistant coach Arjan Veurink will leave his role after the European Championship to become the head coach of the Netherlands women's team, succeeding Andries Jonker.

Arjan Veurink, assistant coach of the England women's team, will leave his role after the European Championship to become the head coach of the Netherlands women's team. The Football Association confirmed the move, which will see Veurink succeed Andries Jonker as the Dutch team's head coach.

The 38-year-old Dutchman has a successful track record with the Netherlands, having served as assistant coach from 2017-2021 and winning Euro 2017 under Sarina Wiegman. He later joined Wiegman's staff in England, contributing to several major tournament victories, including Euro 2022 and the Women's Finalissima in 2023, as well as a World Cup runner-up finish in 2023.

Sarina Wiegman and Arjan Veurink have collaborated since 2017, and their partnership has yielded significant success. The FA stated, “Veurink continues to be a highly valued and respected member of Sarina Wiegman's team, with his complete focus remaining on the Lionesses' current UEFA Women's Nations League campaign and this summer's tournament in Switzerland.”

The upcoming European Championship, taking place in Switzerland from July 2nd-27th, will be a crucial test for the Lionesses. As holders, England will kick off their campaign against France on July 5th, with Veurink's expertise playing a vital role in their preparations.
