Brentford Owners Acquire Spanish Club Merida in New Venture
Brentford FC's owners, Best Intentions Actions, have acquired Spanish third-division club Merida, expanding their global football footprint.
Crown emphasized that the project at Merida will continue unchanged, building on the work already done. “The project at Merida will continue on the same basis as it is currently, maintaining the foundations of the great work that has been carried out so far,” he said. This approach was a key factor in the decision to invest in the club.

Merida, founded in 2013, currently sits fifth in the Primera Federacion standings. The club's sound financial management also attracted the new owners. “This was another key factor in our decision to commit to this club, along with the fact that it has been run on a sound financial footing,” Crown added. The acquisition marks a new chapter for Merida under Best Intentions Actions' ownership.
Brentford's ownership group, Best Intentions Actions, has experience with multi-club ownership, having previously been part of a system with FC Midtjylland from 2014-2023. This background likely influenced their decision to acquire Merida.

Merida's director general, Alejandro Perez Robles, welcomed the acquisition, saying, “Being integrated into a well-established and internationally respected methodological structure in the world of football is a source of pride.” He added that it validates the club's hard work over the past four years, stating, “... it reaffirms the work carried out by the club over the past four years, during which solid foundations have been laid for its future development.” This partnership is expected to further enhance Merida's growth and stability.
