Luis Enrique: PSG Will Respect Dunkerque and Take Every Match as a Challenge
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique has warned his team against complacency ahead of their French Cup semi-final against Dunkerque, emphasizing the importance of respecting their opponents.
Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has warned that his team will not take their upcoming French Cup semi-final against second-tier Dunkerque lightly. As PSG pursue a record-extending 16th French Cup title, Enrique emphasized the importance of remaining focused and avoiding complacency.
Enrique's team is currently unbeaten in Ligue 1 and is on track to retain the title. Additionally, PSG is poised to make a strong run in the Champions League, with a quarter-final matchup against Aston Villa looming next month. Despite being overwhelming favorites against Dunkerque, Enrique is taking a cautious approach. “I'm going to approach it as usual. Since last season, we've been thinking in general terms and not about a single match.”
Enrique expressed his team's preference for a busy schedule, indicating that it is a sign of their involvement in multiple competitions. “We love being in a busy schedule because it means we're involved in all the competitions,” Enrique told reporters, highlighting PSG's ambition to succeed in various tournaments. With their sights set on multiple titles, PSG will travel to Dunkerque on Tuesday, ready to face the challenge ahead.

Luis Enrique highlighted PSG's impressive attacking record this season, with 119 goals scored in 44 matches across all competitions. The coach also praised forward Bradley Barcola, who has demonstrated a keen understanding of the team's playing style. “(Forward Bradley) Barcola perfectly defines... He started the season with a spectacular run and from then on he was one of the players who best understood that when there's a player better placed than you, he makes a decisive pass,” Enrique explained. The coach emphasized the importance of making decisive passes to create scoring opportunities. “A decisive pass that leaves the teammate in front of goal facing the keeper is even better. We're always looking for the player best placed in front of goal.”
