Bayern Munich strengthened their grip on the Bundesliga title, defeating St Pauli 3-2 to restore a six-point cushion over second-placed Bayer Leverkusen. This hard-fought victory marked Bayern's first home win over St Pauli since 2010, bringing them a step closer to reclaiming the Meisterschale.

St Pauli, seeking to extend their unbeaten league run to three games for only the second time this season, began the match on a promising note. Jackson Irvine came agonizingly close to scoring his first Bundesliga goal, but his deflected header struck the crossbar, denying him a dream start.

Bayern Munich quickly capitalized on the missed opportunity, taking the lead when Siebe Van der Heyden lost possession. Michael Olise seized the chance, delivering a precise pass to Harry Kane, who scored his first league goal in six matches. Notably, Kane has now scored against every Bundesliga team he has faced.

The visitors, who had lost every top-flight match in which they conceded first this season, responded resiliently. Manolis Saliakas' first-time cross caught Bayern's defense off guard, allowing Elias Saad to score with relative ease and level the match. This equalizer was a significant achievement for the league's lowest-scoring side.

Bayern Munich dominated possession, and they thought they had regained the lead when Harry Kane showcased his skillful footwork and finished from close range. However, the goal was disallowed due to Kane being flagged offside, leaving the match level.

Alexander Blessin's St Pauli side had put up a strong defensive display in the first half, but their concentration lapsed again after the restart. Bayern Munich capitalized on this mistake, retaking the lead within 10 minutes of the second half. Michael Olise played a crucial role once more, delivering a precise first-time ball to Leroy Sane, who finished incisively past Nikola Vasilj.

St Pauli found themselves under increasing pressure from Bayern as the match wore on. Despite withstanding this pressure initially, with Olise firing wide and Vasilj denying Musiala, their resistance eventually broke in the 71st minute. Olise continued to dictate the pace of the game, setting Harry Kane free behind the St Pauli defense. Kane then teed up Sane for a simple tap-in, effectively sealing the win for Bayern.

The goal seemed to deflate St Pauli, but they managed to score a consolation goal in stoppage time. Lars Ritzka netted his first Bundesliga goal from range, reducing the deficit to 3-2. Despite this credible performance against the league leaders, St Pauli's winless away league run now stands at four games (D1, L3). Moreover, Heidenheim's win over Wolfsburg has left St Pauli just three points above the relegation playoff spot.

Bayern Munich's performance may not have been entirely convincing, but with only seven games remaining, manager Vincent Kompany will be satisfied with his team's commanding position at the top of the table. The win extends Bayern's lead and brings them closer to reclaiming the Bundesliga title.
