Torino Stun Fiorentina with Late Equalizer Despite Being Down to 10 Men

Fiorentina's winless streak in Serie A extended to six games after they were held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Torino, who scored a late equalizer through Gvidas Gineitis.

Fiorentina's winless streak in Serie A continued as they were held to a stunning 1-1 draw by 10-man Torino at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Despite dominating the match, La Viola were unable to capitalize on their numerical advantage, allowing Torino to secure a valuable point on the road. This result extends Fiorentina's winless league run to six games, adding to the frustration for the hosts.

Fiorentina started the match on a positive note, with Vanja Milinkovic-Savic making a brilliant save to deny Albert Gudmundsson's early attempt. The hosts continued to press, with Pietro Comuzzo squandering a great opportunity from a free-kick, heading the ball just wide of the target. However, Fiorentina's fortunes seemed to improve when Ali Dembele was sent off with a second yellow card for a cynical foul in the 33rd minute, reducing Torino to 10 men.

The numerical advantage paid off for Fiorentina six minutes later, as Moise Kean scored the opening goal. Kean pounced on a rebound in the box, directing a well-placed header into the top corner to give La Viola the lead. However, despite their dominance, Fiorentina were unable to add to their tally, allowing Torino to mount a comeback and secure a draw.

Moise Kean had the opportunity to double his tally just before halftime, but Vanja Milinkovic-Savic made a crucial save to deny him. Torino had offered little threat in the first half, but they did come close to equalizing when Yann Karamoh capitalized on a defensive error and curled a shot inches wide. Despite this close call, the visitors faced a daunting task going into the second half, being both a goal and a man down.

As expected, Fiorentina dominated the early stages of the second half, with Kean forcing Milinkovic-Savic into another impressive save as the ball seemed destined for the bottom corner. However, Torino gradually gained confidence as the deficit remained at one goal. Alieu Njie's effort flashed just wide, and it seemed that Fiorentina would eventually capitalize on their numerical advantage. Instead, it was Gvidas Gineitis who scored an unlikely equalizer, calmly slotting past David de Gea after some poor defending by the hosts.

Fiorentina pushed for a winner in the latter stages of the match, with Yacine Adli attempting a long-range shot. However, Milinkovic-Savic made another smart save to help his team secure a precious point. The draw means that Fiorentina are now winless in three consecutive home league matches, but they have climbed to sixth in the table, at least temporarily. Meanwhile, Torino are now unbeaten in four away games in Serie A, rising one place to 11th in the standings.
