Serie A: Roma Stun Udinese with 2-1 Comeback Win

AS Roma secured a stunning 2-1 comeback win over Udinese, thanks to penalties from Lorenzo Pellegrini and Artem Dovbyk. The victory ended Roma's 13-match winless away run in Serie A.

AS Roma secured a hard-fought 2-1 comeback win over Udinese, earning their first away Serie A victory since April. The win marked Roma's first back-to-back league triumphs since September, with two penalties proving decisive. Despite their struggles on the road, Roma started strongly, with new signing Devyne Rensch forcing Razvan Sava into a smart save from mid-range.

Udinese gradually gained momentum, and Thomas Kristensen came close to opening the scoring on the half-hour mark. Kristensen reacted quickly to a corner, striking towards goal, but Mile Svilar produced a brilliant reflex save to deny him. Eight minutes later, Udinese found the breakthrough through Lorenzo Lucca, who coolly slotted home following Sandi Lovric's free-kick.

Roma thought they had equalized just before halftime, but Artem Dovbyk's goal was ruled out for offside. However, the visitors didn't have to wait long to level the score in the second half. Just four minutes in, Roma was awarded a penalty when Christian Kabasele handled the ball in the box. Lorenzo Pellegrini stepped up and slotted low past Sava to equalize.

Udinese attempted to regain the lead immediately, but Martín Payero was denied by a brilliant save from Svilar from close range. Moments later, Niccolo Pisilli forced an equally impressive save from Sava from distance. The match swung in Roma's favor just after the hour mark when they were awarded another penalty, this time due to a foul by Sava.

The second penalty proved decisive, as Dovbyk stepped up to score from the spot, securing Roma's comeback win. The victory marked a significant turnaround for Roma, who had struggled on the road in recent months. With two penalties and a strong second-half performance, Roma sealed their first away Serie A win since April.

Artem Dovbyk took the responsibility of taking the second penalty, and he delivered with precision, striking low into the corner to turn the game in Roma's favor. This goal proved to be the decisive factor, as Roma went on to secure a crucial comeback win.

Udinese attempted to mount a late comeback, pushing hard in the latter stages of the match. However, their efforts ultimately came up short, and they slumped to their seventh defeat in 13 league games. This loss also marked their ninth home defeat in 12 head-to-head meetings against Roma.

The win was a welcome relief for Roma, who had suffered a midweek setback against AZ Alkmaar. By securing this victory, Roma ended a dismal 13-match winless away run in Serie A. Despite this win, both Roma and Udinese remain stuck in mid-table, with plenty of work to be done to climb the league standings.
