Postecoglou Provides Update on Tottenham's Injury Situation

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou updates on the team's injury situation ahead of the League Cup semi-final against Liverpool.

Tottenham Hotspur Faces Injury Crisis Ahead of League Cup Clash

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou revealed on Tuesday that his team will be without 10 first-team players for the League Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool at home. This significant injury blow comes as Spurs aim to end their 16-year trophy drought.

The North London side's injury woes have been compounded by suspensions to key players James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr. Both players received two yellow cards in previous rounds, ruling them out of the crucial matchup against Liverpool. With a depleted squad, Postecoglou faces a significant challenge as he looks to guide his team to victory.

Tottenham Hotspur Faces Selection Crisis Ahead of League Cup Clash

Despite signing goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague over the weekend, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou will have limited options for the League Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool on Wednesday. Postecoglou acknowledged the significant challenge posed by the team's injury crisis.

“We're trying to help the squad and players. We're down significant numbers, we'll have roughly 10 first-team players missing against Liverpool,” Postecoglou told reporters. “That isn't easy, we get one back and then lose a couple. We still need to see if we can help the playing group and the club's working hard on that in a number of areas.” Tottenham's injury list includes Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison, Ben Davies, and Guglielmo Vicario, all of whom are unlikely to be fit for Wednesday's clash.

Tottenham Hotspur's Injury Update and Contract Extension for Son Heung-min

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou Also provided an update on the team's injury situation ahead of the League Cup semi-final first leg against Liverpool. Postecoglou confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur will return from suspension, while other players are being assessed for their availability. “Bentancur is back but we lose Maddison and Sarr. Mikey (Moore) potentially could be back on the bench. Everyone from the weekend certainly feels better,” Postecoglou said.

The manager also provided updates on individual players, stating, “Radu (Dragusin) is better and Archie (Gray). Deki (Dejan Kulusevski) was a bit under the weather but he should be fine.” Additionally, Postecoglou mentioned that Richarlison is making progress in his recovery, saying, “Richarlison is training but we want him to have two solid weeks of training so if he gets through next week he will be fine. Fraser (Forster) is back in training.”

On a positive note, Tottenham Hotspur activated a one-year extension in captain Son Heung-min's contract. Postecoglou expressed his desire for Son to end his career at the club with a trophy, saying, “The main ambition is to make sure he finishes his career here with some silverware.” This ambition is particularly significant, given that Spurs have not won any silverware since their League Cup final victory over Chelsea in 2008.
