The NHL featured a five-game slate on Monday, with the Detroit Red Wings and Vancouver Canucks delivering impressive performances. The Red Wings extended their winning streak to four games, while the Canucks also secured a victory.

The Detroit Red Wings trailed 2-0 against the Los Angeles Kings, courtesy of goals from Kevin Fiala and Quinton Byfield. However, the Red Wings responded with a dominant display, scoring five unanswered goals to seal a 5-2 win. Lucas Raymond, Alex DeBrincat, and Elmer Soderblom scored the first three goals to take the lead, while Marco Kasper added the final two goals to secure the victory.

The Los Angeles Kings have now suffered two consecutive losses and have dropped four of their last five games. In contrast, the Detroit Red Wings have started the new year strongly, boasting a 9-5 record. The Kings, meanwhile, hold a 5-6 record since the turn of the year.

Canucks Secure Second Straight Win with 5-2 Victory Over Blues

The Vancouver Canucks took an early lead against the St. Louis Blues, courtesy of Conor Garland's two goals in the first period. Garland's efforts were followed by a goal from teammate J.T. Miller in the second period, giving the Canucks a strong foundation.

The Blues eventually found their footing, with Dylan Holloway scoring their first goal. Although the teams exchanged goals, the Canucks maintained their advantage. Tyler Myers sealed the win with an empty-net goal, securing a 5-2 victory for Vancouver.

The win marked the Canucks' second consecutive victory, while the Blues suffered their third straight loss and fourth in their last five games. Both teams now hold a 5-8 record since the start of the new year and are set to face each other again on March 30th.

Flyers Soar to 4-2 Victory Over Devils

The Philadelphia Flyers got off to a strong start, taking a 3-0 lead early in the game thanks to goals from Bobby Brink, Joel Farabee, and Garnet Hathaway. This initial surge gave the Flyers a solid foundation for the rest of the match.

The New Jersey Devils responded with two goals of their own, courtesy of Dougie Hamilton and Timo Meier. However, Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson delivered an outstanding performance, making 31 saves to help his team maintain their advantage. Scott Laughton sealed the win with an empty-net goal, putting the game out of reach for the Devils.

The Devils have struggled since the start of the new year, losing five of their last seven games and boasting a 4-8 record in 2025. In contrast, the Flyers have gone 6-7 since the new year and have a 6-3-1 record in their last 10 games. The two teams will face each other again in two days, on January 29th, in New Jersey.
