NHL Postpones Kings-Flames Game Due to Los Angeles Wildfires

The NHL has postponed the Los Angeles Kings' home game against the Calgary Flames due to devastating wildfires near LA, with the NFL monitoring the situation ahead of a planned playoff game.

The Los Angeles Kings' scheduled NHL home game against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday has been postponed due to the devastating wildfires near Los Angeles. The decision was made in light of the hazardous conditions and air quality in the area. The Kings have not announced a makeup date for the contest.

The NHL expressed its support for those affected by the wildfires, stating: “The thoughts of the entire NHL family are with the Kings, hockey fans and the people of the Los Angeles area during this difficult time.” This gesture reflects the league's concern for the well-being of the community and its fans.

The NFL is also closely monitoring the situation, with a playoff game scheduled to take place at SoFi Stadium on Monday. The match between the Los Angeles Rams and the Minnesota Vikings may be relocated to Arizona if the air quality and conditions in Los Angeles do not improve. The NFL has contingency plans in place to ensure the game can proceed safely.

The National Football League (NFL) has issued a statement regarding the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, emphasizing the league's priority on safety. “The NFL's priority is the safety of the Los Angeles community,” the league stated. “We're grateful for the tireless efforts of the first responders. Our hearts are with Los Angeles and everyone affected by the fires.”

Despite the challenging situation, the NFL is currently planning to proceed with the scheduled Vikings-Rams game on Monday night at SoFi Stadium. The league acknowledged that contingency plans are in place in case a change of location becomes necessary. “We continue to prepare to play the Vikings-Rams game as scheduled Monday night at SoFi Stadium. As with all games, there are contingency plans in the event a change in location is needed,” the NFL explained.

The NFL will continue to closely monitor the situation in Los Angeles and maintain communication with the involved teams and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA). “The NFL continues to closely monitor developments in the area and will remain in contact with both clubs and the NFLPA (players union),” the league stated.

The Los Angeles Rams also expressed their support and concern for those affected by the wildfires. “Our hearts are with those affected by the Palisades wildfires and the first responders protecting our community. Be safe,” the Rams posted on X. The devastating wildfires have resulted in the loss of at least two lives and the destruction of over 1,000 structures, with residents being forced to evacuate due to the raging flames, powerful winds, and massive smoke clouds.
