The NFL has assigned Ron Torbert as the head referee for Super Bowl 59, citing his experience and expertise.
The National Football League (NFL) has announced that Ron Torbert, a 61-year-old veteran official, will serve as the head referee for Super Bowl LIX (59) on February 9, 2025. This assignment is a testament to Torbert's experience and expertise.
Torbert's track record with the remaining playoff teams is impressive. Since 2017, the Buffalo Bills have a 5-2 record with Torbert as the referee, while the Kansas City Chiefs boast a 4-1 record, including a win against the Bills in 2020. On the NFC side, the Washington Commanders have a 5-7 record with Torbert since 2017 but are 2-0 this season, including their recent Divisional Round victory over the Detroit Lions.
The Philadelphia Eagles also have a notable record with Torbert, standing at 7-5 since 2017 and 2-0 this year. Torbert's Super Bowl LIX assignment marks his return to the biggest stage in football, having previously officiated the 2022 Super Bowl between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals.

Cheek holds the record for most games officiated, with an impressive 461 games under his belt. Meanwhile, several officials, including umpire Mike Morton, down judge Max Causey, field judge Mearl Robinson, back judge Jonah Monroe, and replay official Kevin Brown, will be making their Super Bowl debuts.
