Naoya Inoue Title Defense Uncertain as Jason Goodman Suffers Eye Injury

Australian boxer Jason Goodman's upcoming title fight against Naoya Inoue is uncertain after suffering an eye injury that requires four stitches.

Australian boxer Jason Goodman's upcoming title fight against Naoya Inoue has been thrown into jeopardy due to an injury. According to Goodman's promoter and manager, the Australian hurt his left eye during his final training session before traveling to Japan.

The severity of the injury required Goodman to receive four stitches, and medical professionals have advised him against fighting for at least four weeks, as reported by Sydney's Daily Telegraph. This development puts his mandatory challenger status for Inoue's WBO and IBF titles in doubt.

Naoya Inoue, the undefeated champion with a 28-0 record and 25 knockouts, last defended his titles against Ireland's TJ Doheny in Tokyo in September. Inoue was scheduled to make his third title defense since becoming the undisputed super-bantamweight champion in December last year.

Inoue's impressive career milestones include becoming only the second boxer to achieve undisputed world champion status in two different weight classes since the four-belt era began in 2004. American Terence Crawford was the first boxer to accomplish this feat.
