Dodgers Sign Former All-Star Pitcher Kirby Yates

The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially signed former All-Star pitcher Kirby Yates to a one-year, $13 million deal, pending a physical. According to MLB insiders Jeff Passan and Mark Feinsand, Yates can earn an additional $1 million if he appears in 55 games. This signing comes on the heels of the Dodgers' recent acquisition of Tanner Scott on a 4-year, $72 million contract.

Yates' impressive performance last season, which included a career-low 0.827 WHIP, has generated significant excitement among Dodgers fans. The team's reputation for attracting top talent has been further solidified by this signing. As Yates joins the Dodgers, he will be playing for his eighth team in his 10-year career and his third team in the past three seasons.

Yates' career has taken him to several teams, including the Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Indians, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Angels, San Diego Padres, and most recently, the Texas Rangers. His time with the Rangers was particularly notable, as he earned All-Star honors and finished eighth in the AL Cy Young voting. Yates' impressive statistics last season included a 1.17 ERA, 33 saves, and 85 strikeouts in 61 games.

Yates' performance last season was marked by his ability to limit hits and walks while striking out batters at an impressive rate. He surrendered just 23 hits in 63.1 innings pitched, while walking only 28 batters. His 33 saves were the seventh-most in all of baseball, just nine shy of his career-high. As Yates joins the Dodgers, he brings a wealth of experience and talent to the team's bullpen.
